Commander's Notes
On your next visit to the post, take a moment to look up at the roof above the Gleason Hall kitchen. We recently completed installation of the screening enclosure around the kitchen makeup air unit. This improvement was required by the city and serves two important purposes: it screens the unit from view and provides a safety railing for anyone servicing the equipment.
This project marks the completion of Phase One of our kitchen renovation, which included installation of a new stainless-steel hood and makeup air system, along with a new kitchen window. Looking ahead, we hope to begin Phase Two when funding becomes available. That phase would replace the existing wooden cabinets with new stainless-steel cabinetry.
On Memorial Day, we conducted two remembrance ceremonies. The first was held at 11am at the Berkley City Hall gazebo in cooperation with the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Berkley, followed by a second ceremony at the post at noon. Both events were very well attended and provided a meaningful opportunity to honor those who gave their lives in service to our nation.
