The Berkley Post received their charter, July 27th 1940. While we are somewhat cloudy on some issues concerning original post, we do know it started in our current lower hall basement. At one time the Berkley Police Department used the lower hall for firearm practice and there is still a portion of a pine counter that used to be the bar. We then purchased a home next door which is now the back office. Sometime around 1968 our lounge was added. The original roof from home is still visible above the ceiling near restrooms. In 2008 we undertook the remodel of our new lounge. This was not a remodel of just wall paper and paint. New building codes required fire sprinklers, electrical and plumbing updates as well. The lounge received almost all new appliances and furniture as well.
The Post building has changed a lot over the years, but the dedication of its members is what keeps the Berkley Post alive and well!
